4 Tricks on Kindle You May Ignored on Kindle

Spread the love

Many of us read an eBook by Kindle on a day-to-day basis, whenever we are on the bus to work, or the night on bed. As a regular Kindle user, you may use it to read your purchased Kindle books, browse the web pages, or even use it to listen music. But are you sure you have make the most of the device? Here are 4 tricks on kindle you may ignored on Kindle

(PS: Most of the tricks are only suitable for a Kindle Keyboard, as many of them require some operations on a keyboard, which is not possible for a Kindle Touch.)

1. Play MineSweeper on Kindle:

4_Tips_on_Kindle

Like MonoChrome Nokia in early 2000s, we can play Minesweeper and even Gomoku on our Kindle. But it is only possible for Kindle e-ink Readers with keyboard.

To play Minesweeper on Kindle, you need to press ALT+SHIFT+M; if you want to switch to Gomoku, just press G.

2. Basic Calculation:

Kindle can also handle some basic calculations for you, I know this feature may be useless for most of you smart readers, but believe me, there are always some math idiots like me, who sometimes even can’t get a correct result from 25+68. Therefore I do think this is a good feature that Kindle offers me.

If you want to ask Kindle to help you do some basic calculations, just type in the numbers in the search bar, then press “Enter” to get the result.

If want your Kindle become a more professional calculator, you can purchase this app at Amazon with a $0.99 cost.

3. Useful Shortcuts:

Just like the household “CTRL+C” and “CTRL+V” on PC, you can also perform many shortcuts on Kindle to make your reading life much easier.

Playing Music Shortcuts:

ALT + Space: Play/Stop

ALT + F: Skip this track

Reading Shortcuts:

Alt+B: Add bookmark

Alt+0: Enable/disable slideshow

Alt+1: Start slideshow (if enabled)

Alt+2: Stop slideshow

Browser Shortcuts:

Alt + Shift + G:  Take screenshot

Alt + R: Reload

In fact there are many other shortcuts on Kindle, here I only display the most useful ones.

4. Read Kindle Book Out Load:

I’ve seen so many people ask this question and you can get about 8,630,000 results in Google if you search “read kindle books out loud”. Or we can call this feature in a more pro way: TTS(Text to Speech).

To make your Kindle read for you, you can simply press the “Menu” button in reading screen and switch on the “Text to Speech” setting. Kindle provides you both male and female voice and you can also customize the reading speed.

And there is a more easier method: “Shift + Sym”.
