Computers Are Taking Over – Software In All Spheres Of Life

When Hollywood decided to come up with the series ‘Sarah Connor – Rise of The Machines‘, people should have caught the warning. The following examples show just how much computers have taken over work from human beings; the only consolation is that they cannot work without the input of human beings…for now.

Money makes the world go round – that is no doubt. However, how you earn speaks volume about your prowess. The money market highly depended on your instinct, calculation, and risks taking. Today however, computers are now being designed and wired with the necessary information to make calculated risks and make money for you. These systems are used all over the world in major stock markets, even wall systems.

The Example of Military

Many generals agree that if they had a way of reducing the casualties in the battlefield they would do so. However, in some operational procedures the use of human beings is more important because it requires instinct and using machines would cost a fortune. This does not mean that you would be putting cost on human lives; would you? Looking critically at this question however, has led security companies with defense contracts to develop interesting machinery that can actually put the generals at ease. The catch is that they are expensive and cannot be afforded by many countries.

The development of equipment such as airborne drones has greatly improved the collection of intelligence and carrying out strikes that could have put pilots in danger and spies in danger. In most western countries, drones have taken over because they are unmanned, and if they are intercepted, their loss cannot be equated to a captured soldier or a dead one at that. The embarrassment of capture is there, but in essence, the army has saved its personnel, which is an asset, for use when they have to.

The Example of Lab Work

Pharmaceutical companies have been known as unscrupulous and profit making companies who go around their business only or mostly for the money other than focusing on discovering drugs for the good of humankind. However, that is neither the subject nor agenda of this article; the pharmaceutical companies were among the first companies in the world to embrace the use of computers because of the precision and efficiency they added into the industry.

The machines brought with them the ability to be preprogrammed on measurement of ingredients and the transfer of one bottle to the other during the packing. This increased production and reduced the time of production. It beats man dying in a lab because they ingested a dangerous chemical while using a pipette. This is not to say that computers have completely taken over.

Though the use of robotics technology is underway, man is still an important component in the production of medicine by imputing the instructions on the computers. However compared to the past years, the human work force in the pharmacists’ factory has dwindled while the rise of the computers goes on.

The Change that is the Internet

The Internet, a chain and network of computers, developed by human beings have taken over the world. You could be anywhere in the world away from family but you could talk to them as if they are right there with you. Thanks to applications such as Skype and other VOIP related applications to make this a reality. It is not a wonder how the world has become a virtual village; thanks to computers, it is however important to remember that the capability of these computers is as a direct action of peoples actions; man’s actions.

The question is then put to you, which of these do you think is the top in all these markets? Is it a symbiotic relationship between man and computer or is it the computers taking over? That is left for you to decide, it might be a question of perception but the facts seem to lean on one side.
