3D Technology in Next Generation Video Games

Spread the love

It is amazing how the video gaming world has progressed over the years. It used to be that when you fired up the old computer, video game console, or visited an arcade that you would enjoy smashing a couple of buttons, jamming a joystick, and watching the pixilated figures jump across the screen. That is no longer the case in the gaming world.3D Video Games

Current Games:

Games are currently rather complex with their graphics. The high definition that you are able to get on your Smartphone let alone your gaming console is amazing and seems like light years ahead of the pixilated games of the 80’s & 90’s. Do not count out the old school games for retro games are rather popular right now, but that tends to be more for the nostalgia than the high quality gaming experience.

Current games like The Walking Dead, Call of Duty, Halo, and many other franchised games have only gotten better graphic wise in the later installments. The video game developers have made it feel as real as possible to the gamer that is enjoying the game. The graphics almost make you feel like you are right in the jungle fighting along the other soldiers, or that the zombie may actually attack and eat you. It does not quite look like reality, but the graphics have improved enough to be able to creep you out pretty well.

Next Generation Video Games:

Many people are wondering what the next possible step could be in graphic development for a video game. Not only are current graphics already rather amazing you are going to need to develop better processors in order to be able to handle much more. The gaming world has a lot of speculation on what the next step in gaming graphics might be, but it looks like 3D technology is where the current focus remains.

We all know that the release of all of the 3D versions of movies and the 3D capable televisions is a big push right now. It is considered to be the latest technology, and many people have bought into it hook, line, and sinker. It was only a matter of time before the gaming world would begin to look into how they could use all of this 3D technology to their advantage.

How amazing would it be if instead of just being creeped out by the fact that your character was going to be eaten by a zombie you actually saw the zombie physically coming toward you to chomp your face off? There are currently games that are available such as Ball Invasion which will take your room and integrate it into the game play. This is referred to as augmented reality. The goal for the future is to take this augmented reality and then combine it with 3D technology. The game will not only be on the screen, but will surround you on the walls around you. It will literally make you feel like you are inside the game. For example if you are playing a game where you are hunting a lion you will not only see the African plains on the screen, but the bush and desert will appear on the walls around you. You will be literally in the middle of the game.

The 3D video gaming technology is currently just in the planning and concept stages, but the development aspect is progressing by leaps and bounds. The only downside is that in order to enjoy these games in the future this will most likely require an additional investment in a new gaming console, games, and possibly even a television. The upside is that you will be able to make 3D games an actual reality.
