The iF Design Awards was established way back in 1953 and today it is recognized as one of the most prestigious awards in the design turf. Each year, the panel from iF applauds outstanding design in three disciplines namely product, communication and packaging design. Likewise in the year 2014, the technology giants Canon Inc. have been recognized by iF International Forum Design GmbH; the company’s innovative technologies have been conferred with the prestigious 2014 iF Design Awards. The award went to them in the product design and communication design categories and totally 9 canon designs have been bestowed with this recognition.
The Canon products that were acknowledged with The iF Product Design Award are as follows:
EOS 5D Mark III – this product offers a supercharged EOS performance through its stunning full frame. It also comes with high-resolution image capture for superior performance. Basically the product has been designed for advanced still photography with in the studio and outdoors. Besides it also has professional-level high definition video potential.
EOS 100D (EOS Rebel SL1 or EOS Kiss X7 in other regions) is a stunning SLR that has been rightfully labeled as the ‘world’s smallest, lightest APS-C DSLR’. It is light, handy and has easy mechanisms such as a tiny shutter mechanism, thinner sensor module and a slighter footprint circuit board.
PowerShot N is a brand new design in the highly competitive point and shoot category. It comes with a 12.1MP High Sensitivity CMOS Sensor and a DIGIC 5 Image Processor. It also has a versatile tilting touch screen and a Wi-Fi on the go sharing feature.
LEGRIA mini (VIXIA mini or IVIS mini in other regions) comes with a unique combination of ultra-wide angle lens, a variable angle LCD and also a built-in stand. This innovative new cam-corder has useful Wi–fi functions and offers superior image quality.
PIXMA MG7150 / MG6450 / MG5550 (PIXUS MG7130 / MG5530 in Japan) is a fine three-in-one inkjet printer. The device is great for home usage as well as serves small to medium businesses pretty well. This printer comes with remote printing facility from mobile devices as well as has a print-from-Cloud option. The Pixma Printing Solutions app has basically boosted the capabilities of home printers to a whole new dimension.
i-SENSYS LBP7680Cx / 7110Cw (imageCLASS LBP7001Cw / Satera LBP7110C in other regions) are the new generation laser printers from Cannon. They come with a host of new features like 768mb standard memory, direct print from usb storage, 9600 x 600 dpi print resolution and lots more.
WUX450 is the new generation projector from Cannon.
LE-5W is a multimedia travelling projector.
The iF Communication Design Award went to the user interface for the EOS M compact-system camera named EOS M User Interface.
This 2014 iF Awards comes as Cannon’s 20th consecutive year of winning these iF Design Awards; besides it has also brought Company’s cumulative award count to 90. Amazingly Canon has been an unvarying Awardee at iF Product Design Award since 1989. The first award came its way for an innovative office copying machine. Ever since the very first award, Cannon has won this honor for many types of products, including cameras, video camcorders, printers and copying machines.
