Huawei left a big impact in Las Vegas in CES-2013. Huawei Ascend mate and Ascend D2 are really the gadgets that might give Note 2 and S3 a hard fight. Huawei’s Ascend D2 is ahead of galaxy S3 in terms of specifications. Huawei is calling this as the most powerful smart-phone ever.Talking about Ascend Mate,this is a good phablet but whether it is good enough to outrun Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2.Lets find out-
Display-Samsung’s Galaxy Note 2 comes with 5.5 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touch screen.Its resolution is 720×1280 with 267 ppi pixel density.For protection,there is Gorilla Glass.
On the other hand,Huawei Ascend mate is having 6.1 inches capacitive touch screen which is the biggest screen among all phablets. But the display is not AMOLED,it is having Super IPS+LCD display which is a downside for this gadget.Resolution is same as Note 2-720×1280 but due to larger display pixel density is less 241 ppi. Winner in this category is Note 2 as it comes with Super AMOLED display and better ppi.
Camera-Note 2 comes with 8 MP rear camera that is able to record full HD 1080p videos.It is also having1.9 MP front camera for skype and video calling.
Huawei Ascend Mate comes with same 8 MP rear camera and 1 MP front camera .You can shoot 1080 with rear camera. Note2 is winner here as it is having better front camera.
Operating System-Note 2 runs on Android 4.1.1(Jelly Bean).You can upgrade it to 4.1.2 if you want.
Huawei Ascend Mate comes with Android 4.1.2.Since both are using the same Android version,there can’t be a winner in this category.
Processor-First thing that every buyer will check before buying a smart-phone or tablet is its processor.It is the heart of any smart-phone and smart-phone or phablet’s performance depends on its processor.Samsung Galaxy Note comes with powerful Quad-core 1.6 GHz Cortex A9 processor.It is having Mali-400 MP GPU underneath it that makes it capable to play HD games smoothly.
On the other hand, Huawei Ascend Mate is powered by Quad-core 1.5 GHz cortex A9 processor along with Mali-400 MP.The processor is slower than Note 2.Ascend Mate is having larger display with comparatively slower processor.Note 2 is clear winner in this category.
Battery-Note 2 is having 3100 mAh Li-ion battery that is good enough to give it 16 hrs talktime on 3G and 35 hrs talk-time on 2G. Seeing the display size the battery is very good.
Due to bigger size,Ascend mate comes with bigger 4050 mAh Li-ion battery.No winner in this category as bigger battery in Ascend Mate compensates its bigger screen.In my opinion, Note2 will last longer than Ascend Mate.
Entertainment Value-Due to bigger screen Huawei’s Ascend Mate is better for watching movies and playing games.
Final Verdict-Note2 outrun Ascend Mate in most of the categories.If I have an option to buy one of these I will go for Note2.But if you have used Note2 and want to switch to bigger screen then there can’t be a better alternative than Ascend Mate.
