You’ve bought your printer but now you seem to be spending more on ink than you did on the printer to begin with! Does this sound familiar to you? These days, ink toner can be very expensive. If you’re tired of spending your hard earned cash on printer ink, read these nine easy tips.

Choose The Right Printer

Printers with a low cost per page are the ones that will save you the most money in the long run. Even though another printer might be cheaper, with the amount you’ll spend on ink it probably isn’t worth it. Sometimes the most expensive printers will end up saving you the most money!

Look At What You’re Printing

Only print the material you need! This may seem pretty obvious but always go back through your document and get rid of any material that does not need to be printed.

Don’t Always Believe The Low-Cartridge Warnings

These usually start long before you actually need to worry about your ink level so don’t be too quick to buy a new one!

Give The Cartridge A Shake

No, seriously, it does work! With laser printers, the toner can settle and make it look as though the ink is running out. Taking the cartridge out and giving it a gentle shake will make the ink come out unblemished once again and you might even get away with doing this several times before needing to buy a new one!

Choose Your Font Carefully

Some fonts are smaller than others and therefore require much less ink or toner when printed out. For example, try not to use bold text as this uses more ink than regular text.

Printing Drafts

If you want to print something out for proofreading or editing, then use the “draft output” function Word offers – you can find this by opening the print menu and selecting options> check> draft output. This will print out a low-quality draft copy which will use less ink than a normal copy.

GreenPrint

Windows XP, Vista, 7 and Mac OSX 10.5+ can give you a piece of software which analyses your print jobs and shows you where you can save on ink – it does all the work for you!

Black And White

Printing in black and white can save you a lot of money! Black ink or toner cartridges are generally cheaper than the colour ones so if you don’t need to print in colour, don’t do it.

Do Some Research!

Researching which printers are economically best can save you a lot of wasted money. Epson printers are known for their high-quality and reasonable pricesand Epson printer toner comes at a very good price!

So if you don’t want to spend a fortune on ink anymore, follow these simple steps and save yourself some money!
