Now-a-days, we cannot live without Wi-Fi. As we are connected globally via social media and want to get all the updates on our finger tips, we need internet connection. From Airport to Coffee shop, each and every location provides us free Wi-Fi. Which allows us to connect to the outer world. But these public Wi-Fi can be sometimes dangerous and hackers can easily peep into our information and identity that we are sharing over the internet using the public Wi-Fi network.

Identity theft can ruin lives. As technology progresses it becomes easier for potential thieves to become actual thieves. The rise of social media has also played into potential thief’s hands. Joining unsecured public Wi-Fi hot spots is one way thieves are able to view sensitive data such as credit card or social security information.

Many do not realize that potential hackers can view the web history on unsecured networks. If you happen to be in a public place with free Wi-Fi that does not require a password, do not look at bank account information or documents of a sensitive nature. Many hackers frequent these places because they know others will not take preventative measure to stop them.

Hackers are given more opportunities to steal identities with the rise of the tablet and the smart phone. Now more than ever, people are using these devices in public. There more unsecured areas people are willing to use their devices in, the more identity theft will occur.
